Since 1983, the United States has observed National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week to recognize the outstanding achievements of minority businesses. Regional MED Week events and activities are organized across the country, with many states, cities and local groups recognizing minority businesses.
In celebration of MED Week, the Kansas Department of Commerce's Office of Minority and Women Business Development has developed an awards program to recognize minority and women owned businesses, advocates and young entrepreneurs throughout the state. The awards program takes place each fall and invites individuals and organizations to nominate minority and women owned businesses in Kansas who exhibit outstanding achievements in their respective industries. Nominations are accepted in the spring through mid-summer, and winners are recognized at an awards luncheon in the fall.
Nominations are now closed for the 2016 Kansas Minority Enterprise Development Week Awards. Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination, winners will be recognized at an awards luncheon on October 11, 2016!
